                                   Acrostic Poem

Brownies are delicious

And some cakes can be nice only if they have a lot of butter cream

Krispies are okay

Icing sugar is one of the main things in baking

Now there is a lot more things that I would like to try that are hopefully really

GOOD!

Working on Writing

W.A.L.T. Make a Poem acrostic and haiku

A acrostic poem is a word that goes vertically and you write a sentence starting with the letter that you have written.

A haiku is 5,7,5 so you sound out the letter with your fingers and if it isn't 5 or 7 then you have to try and make up another sentence

Here is my poem😁

Now it is time to write a Christmas rhyme under the Christmas tree while it its going up the vine. Tonight is the night Santa will be here maybe we will even leave out a little beer. I jump into bed and I get knocked on my head with a  whole glass of water whoops I'm dead. I fall asleep with with snow on my feet.

"The day is here" I scream over and over again. Santa's been and of course seen the nibbles we left for him and he left a few dribbles near the crumbs. There is Reindeer poop outside with a little loop as pride. In we go to celebrate Jesus life.

NINJA CHALLENGE

          GOOGLE     ninja

Image result for ninja

Today for Manaia Kalani we are doing a challenge called ninja challenge we have been put into buddies for TUHI MAI TUHI ATU and Matawai school our buddies are in Rm 4 and we have been commenting on each others blog post. What our class was very interested in was the ninja challenge our Manaia Kalani teacher Whaea Donna told us that she could help us do it too, so we gave it a try today. We only had one hour!

What I found challenging- I found the 4th thing on the black belt challenging because there was quite a lot of little tasks and I think it was hard because I kind of rushed myself a bit which turned out to just make me frustrated.

Was it fun- defiantly everything with Wheaea Donna is Challenging But very fun at the same time.

What Have you learnt from doing the ninja challenge- I have learnt some more short cuts how to add some stuff to your google docs and a lot more.

What level I am as a NINJA-  I Have finished All of my tasks so I'm a google Ninja

How to navigate where you are going if you are lost with no Compass and Electronics

Working on Writing

By Astyn

1 Use the sun: if it's in the afternoon the sun will be more or less in the west.

2 Locate a flat open area: Find a spot on the ground that looks like a track it could lead you back to your destination.

3 Inspect older trees in the northern hemisphere: The side of the tree with the thinner bark is usually facing south east.

4 moss on trees and rocks: The idea that moss tends to grow on the pole-Side of trees and rocks away from the equator (line) and therefore the sun is a misnomer.

5 The Sun: The sun tends rises in the east and sets in the west that way we know what direction we are going.

              WRITTEN BY ASTYN

on Thursday the 6th  of September 2018 The little theatre came to pompallier in St Joseph's church. The 3 Actors performed a show called Little red Robin hood. Chris said  “She really enjoyed it”.

They have worked There way up to the North Island and next week they are heading to Australia. I enjoyed it but it isn’t the best performance ever.

They taught the kids how to care more about the less fortunate. They have been to more than 200 schools around New-Zealand.

Vehicles should NOT be allowed on Beaches?

-I believe that vehicles should be allowed on NZ beaches because every where you want to go you have to walk. Imagine having to walk up to the bluff to go fishing (it takes long enough to drive up there).
Who cant live without the beautiful sun set while driving along the beach or skidding in the sand on your bike.

- The only people who want driving on the beaches to be banned is the owners of the properties. Fisherman wont be happy, how would you take a boat out if you cant use tractors or bikes?.

- I can see why you don't want people on the beach because it is your property, but why don't you just put a fence up?. There isn't a rule that your not allowed putting up a fence. Why make a big drama about it when your not helping yourself out.

- In conclusion I believe that vehicles should be allowed on NZ beaches even though there is a lot of safety issues

Have I convinced you to change your mind about people not being allowed on NZ beaches?

What do you think about people NOT being allowed on NZ beaches?

               Whaea Ali
As soon as we walked into Piwakawaka Whaea Ali welcomed us and started off with a game using our hands and feet. After learning the game we got some string and we learnt how to make a star. We had morning tea then we went back inside and Whaea Ali showed the ingredient's and let us smell the scents. She put some coconut oil, healing liquid and bees wax. After Whaea melted the balm one of her students pored the liquid in a container while Tarlieyah was doing that Whaea Ali was telling us a story about the 9 stars.

Is there 7 or 9 stars ??

Making bread and butter in a bag

(By hand)

My group Ryan,Xanthe,Isabel,Mitchell, and myself made bread and butter in a bag today. We started off by putting 1 cup of flour 3 TSP of sugar and 1 cup of water in a bag. We mixed and mixed and mixed, until the mixture turned into a stringy like texture. When we put put the yeast in, it started activating which caused a chemical reaction so it started . It got a bit dry so we added another cup of warm water and again we mixed and mixed and mixed. The dough started to look sticky by this point. Mrs Scutt started kneading our dough in a tin and let it rise. We put the dough in the oven for about 25 and it was time to eat.

We made butter with some anchor cream a pinch of salt and alot of shaking

My Fun Term 2 2018

Term 2 2018

In

Kakapo

This term we have been learning a lot and also having fun I have nearly archived my second goal for this term. My favourite things this term were my teacher being kind and supportive, making new friends, having fun and learning a lot more stuff. My personal goal this year was to manage myself. My maths goal was basic facts and now it is to know that maths goes beyond the classroom. And my literacy goal is to link my learning and prior knowledge. This term I have loved Manai Kalani because it has taught us students and our teacher more about the way that chromebooks work and Whaea Donna has taught us a lot of stuff like how to make a catchy blog title, digital dig, smart footprints and alot more. Here is something that our teacher has for our learning.

KAKAPO

We tap on one and it comes up with our contracts or the Manaiakalani stuff. What has been your favourite thing in term 2. ?

SUZANNE AUBERT

Suzanne Aubert Suzanne Aubert was born on the 19th of june 1835 in St-Symphorien-de-Lay near Lyon in France. Suzanne sets sail for NZ on 4 September 1860 on a whaling ship unsuitable for passengers – and on a voyage that would test her courage. On the morning of 19 December, they have their first glimpse of New Zealand, celebrating Christmas Day above Cook Strait. Suzanne, the 22 other missionaries onboard and Bishop Pompallier joyfully land at Auckland on 30 December. The awaiting crowds are equally as joyful to greet their Bishop. A Māori hand is the first held out to Suzanne on that beautiful day.In 1882 Māori from the Whanganui River area ask Bishop Redwood for a priest. The following year Suzanne, Father Soulas and two Sisters go to Hiruharama – Jerusalem – to revive the Catholic mission. Suzanne is appointed to set up and lead a branch of the Marist Third Order Regular of Mary. unfortunately On 1 October 1926 at the age of 91, Suzanne Aubert dies surrounded by her Sisters. Crowds gather in the streets for her funeral and the church overflows. Condolences and tributes pour in from around the world. Who have you ever Researched about ?

HONE HEKE

Earlier this week I have been learning about Hone Heke. Here is my writing about him.

Hone Heke was probably born around 1808. He is a remembered as a prominent voice of the northern Maori chiefs, and was an advocate for, and the first Maori chief to sign, the Treaty of Waitangi. After becoming disillusioned with the British occupation of New Zealand after the signing of the Treaty, he became a fierce member of the opposition to the colonial Brits. He is the epitome of an early political leader who wasn’t afraid to embrace diplomacy when dealing with a foreign power, but conversely wasn’t averse to showing strength when the need arose.
